This Day In History: 1943-08-01

The groundbreaking ceremony  took place at Oak Ridge, Tennessee, US for the first uranium-235 processing plant. (U-235 was needed to build the A-bomb.) The uranium manufacturing facility cost $280,000,000 to build and was completed in the summer of 1944.
